You know those places that look like they’ve leapt straight off a storybook page?
Kotor Old Town is one of them.

Stone walls, ivy-draped balconies, tiny alleyways where Google Maps throws up its hands and says “good luck”—it’s all part of the magic.
We explored this charming town as a family: myself, my husband, our 4-year-old and 3-year-old doing their best explorer impressions, and our 1-year-old along for the ride in the baby carrier like a tiny boss surveying his kingdom.

Every corner of Kotor felt like a new discovery—sun-drenched squares where the kids could wander, bell towers echoing through the mountains, and cats who looked like they’ve owned the place since 1423.
Our older two loved finding “secret paths,” which in reality were just regular alleys, but hey—when you’re three feet tall, everything feels epic.
The pace was slow (because, let’s be honest, toddlers have two speeds: full sprint or snack break).
But that’s what made it so special.
No rushing, no tight schedule—just strolling, pointing out funny-shaped windows, and wondering if it’s acceptable to have gelato again.
And the youngest?
Living his best life, being paraded through medieval Montenegro like royalty, occasionally reaching over to tug hair or dramatically fling his sock into history.

Would I recommend Kotor with young kids?
Definitely.
It’s walkable, scenic, and full of nooks and crannies to keep curious minds happy.
Plus, there’s a café every few steps—because sometimes, adults need snacks too.
