A Family Visit to Claw Kingdom Leicester: Human Claw, Arcade Games and Honest Thoughts

Disclaimer: This is a PR review, but as always, all thoughts are my own.

Well, another PR review… they slid into my DMs and I said yes.

Honestly, at this point if someone says, ‘Want to come try this random family activity?’

I’m already halfway out the door with the kids shouting, ‘Where are we going?’ like we’re filming our own low-budget family reality show.

Now when I first got the invite, I was like… what in the Nelly is Claw Kingdom?

Naturally, I did what any sensible person does when they have no clue what something is – straight to Google images.

And listen, I was sold.

You’re probably thinking, ‘What in the Nelly is she on about now?’ Fair.

So let me explain.

What is Claw Kingdom?

Claw Kingdom in Leicester is basically an indoor arcade-style activity spot built around claw machine fun, soft toy prizes, and a giant human claw machine experience.

Yes, an actual human claw.

As in, they strap you in, hoist you up on this slinky-looking contraption, put giant Mickey Mouse-style gloves on your hands, and give you about 5-10 seconds – I genuinely can’t remember because I was too busy having the time of my life – to grab as many soft toys as you can.

It is equal parts hilarious, ridiculous, and the kind of thing that makes you think, who came up with this? followed immediately by, right, whose turn is next?

First Impressions: Expectation vs Reality

Now from the adult perspective, expectation and reality were not exactly besties on this one.

Looking at the Google images, I had definitely created a slightly different version of the place in my head.

Slightly more grand.

More sparkly.

Maybe my imagination built its own Disneyland for claw machine lovers.

That part is fully on me.

But this trip was not about me, was it?

The kids, on the other hand, were absolutely hyped.

And really, that is the only review criteria that truly matters when you’re a parent.

If the kids are happy, everyone wins.

Even if your personal expectations had wandered off and made their own storyline.

The Human Claw Machine Was the Main Event

Let’s start with the standout attraction: the human claw machine.

If you’ve ever looked at a normal claw machine and thought, ‘I could do better than that claw,’ well, here is your moment to prove it.

You get hoisted into the air, oversized gloves on, family shouting random directions from below, and a few seconds to grab as many toys as you can.

Simple in theory.

Absolute chaos in reality.

The Claw Machines: Still a Rip-Off… But a Fun One

Now let’s talk claw machines in general.

If you’ve ever been to a carnival, then you already know these machines are usually tiny heartbreak boxes disguised as entertainment.

A little grab, a fake wobble, and then your prize drops back down while your child looks at you like you personally programmed the machine.

But here?

Yes, they still have that token-eating, ‘one more go’ energy, but it felt far more fun because there were loads of machines and the kids genuinely enjoyed trying their luck.

And most importantly, they actually walked away happy instead of emotionally damaged by a teddy bear hanging off the edge for dramatic effect.

There are over 40 claw machines, each with different soft toy prizes, so there’s enough variety to keep the kids interested and enough temptation to make you question your life choices every time they ask for more tokens.

Competitive Kids, Arcade Fun, and Fizzy Drink Temptation

Once the kids grabbed their tokens from the desk, they were off.

No warm-up, no gentle easing in, straight into full competitive mode like the family Olympics had begun.

It’s actually a really nice little activity because it gets the kids excited, competitive, and involved without it feeling too serious.

Everything is just a bit of fun, which makes it easy-going and enjoyable.

They also had a basketball hoop arcade game, which was just for fun and didn’t come with prizes, but still became a whole moment.

Think less NBA finals, more pretending you’re Steph Curry while your siblings argue about who scored the most.

And then there was the Japanese fizzy drinks vending machine, which obviously caught the kids’ attention straight away.

Because apparently winning soft toys was not enough – now we also needed novelty drinks. A really fun little extra, though.

Just know that once they spot it, there is no pretending you didn’t see it.

Is Claw Kingdom Worth Visiting?

I’ll be honest – even though it wasn’t quite what I expected at first, it was still a fun way to spend around 45 minutes.

The kids were genuinely over the moon with the toys they won, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the whole thing felt lighthearted and easy.

It’s not a huge attraction or full-day destination, but that’s not what it’s trying to be.

It’s a short, quirky, fun family activity that gives the kids something different to do.

Honest verdict

If you’re in Leicester or nearby and want a fun activity for the kids that’s a little bit different, Claw Kingdom is worth trying.

Would I travel miles just for this alone? Probably not.

Would I pop in if I was already in the area and wanted something fun, quick, and guaranteed to get the kids excited? Absolutely.

It’s quirky, a bit chaotic, and definitely one of those places where you say, “Let’s just do a few tokens,” and then suddenly you’re emotionally invested in winning a giant plushie while your children negotiate for just one more round.

Would I do it again? Probably, yes.

Especially if we were already out and about in Leicester and wanted a fun little stop that ends with happy kids and a few new soft toys coming home with us.
